Electrical waste

Electrical waste refers to all items that run on electricity or batteries. It is divided into two categories: minor electrical waste and major electrical waste.

Minor electrical waste refers to items such as mobile telephones, batteries, electric irons and water kettles. Major electrical waste includes washing machines, TV sets, computers and dishwashers. Batteries are hazardous waste and must always be removed from the items before they are dropped off for recycling.

If you live in a house, drop off minor electrical waste along with hazardous waste in the red box. Once the box is full, call the Department´s Customer Service and ask for it to be collected (free of charge). Included in the waste-collection fee you pay is an annual collection of one cubic metre of major electrical waste.

If you live in a flat, drop off minor electrical waste at the environment lorry. The lorry stops at 17 different places in Lidingö, four times per year. There people can drop off hazardous waste and minor electrical waste. For major electrical waste, contact the property owner to find out what applies.

Refrigerators and freezers are collected free of charge for everyone. Call the Department´s Customer Service to arrange the collection.

Both minor and major electrical waste can also be dropped off at the Stockby recycling station.
